Best of X

Photo: Matt Morning/ESPN Images/ShazammAspenSpin is not a red carpet virgin anymore.  We're still buzzing from a huge X Games weekend in Los Angeles.  The action and intensity were palpable---and that was just in the LA traffic.   ESPN took over LA as the action sports brotherhood (and sisterhood)dominated the City of Angels.   ESPN's team of professional action photographers handles the heavy lifting (competition photos).  We reviewed 1000's of ESPN Images/ Shazamm photos and selected the top pix for your eye-balls.   Jake Brown went huge to capture Gold in Big Air. RED CARPET / L.A. Spin.

Day one of ESPN X Games 15 was siiiiiiiiiiiick.  The first night was even siiiiiiicker.  After a full day of competition @ X Games venues Home Depot Center and Staples Center, the entire Action Sports industry put on their collective party dresses and attended the WORLD PREMIER of X Games 3D the Movie at the Nokia Theatre.  Disney and ESPN teamed up tp produce the first-ever sports themed 3D movie, set for release on August 21.  The full length feature film captures the drama and the spectacle of X Games in 3D. The flick is headlined by Shaun White, Bob Burnquist, Danny Way, Kyle Loza, Travis Pastrana along with other action sports stars.  Its an action movie like you've never seen before.

AspenSpin worked the Red Carpet like no one else can.  Equipped with an all-access pass, & spinning like a Mo-Fo, we engaged the celebs and asked the tough questions. The result: one of a kind photos for your enjoyment.  There are more to come, but these pix are hot off the press. Click 'em to enlarge. Pamela Sue Anderson loved the X Games 3D experience. "Who are you wearing?" shouted the paparazzi.

ESPN X Games 15

Los Angeles is fittin' to go OFFFFFF for ESPN X Games 15.  Summer X in L.A. is a little different from the Winter Games, and L.A. is a little less user friendly than Aspen. But, as we say, GO BIG or go home.  It was a Hall of Fame line-up @ ESPN Zone across from Staples Center. AspenSpin got some great pix.

Here's a few.   Look for more soon.

Dan Rather in Aspen

One of the few people who can rock a tie in Aspen, Dan Rather addressed the SRO audience at The Aspen Institute in Aspen.  The 77 year old anchor is still cranking it HDNet.  Rather anchored the CBS Evening News for 24 years.  His discussion centered on independent journalism & the future of media.  Just to prove a point,--- AspenSpin.com scooped the Aspen Times and Aspen Daily News (check the time stamp) on this story.  FIRST!!  A violent hail storm could not stop the show.  Photo: Robert Fullerton.

Red Onion: "can't get it done".

Scott Degraff of Fun WorldWide. Blah Blah Blah. After more than 2 years of rhetoric (ie:Bull sh*t) and construction , Scott Degraff and Fun Worldwide failed to get Junk / Red Onion open for business. Their lease agreement for the historic building has been terminated by the ownership group.  Perhaps it was the economy, but we at AspenSpin feel it was an ill conceived notion from the start.  "Gapers cannot come to Aspen --- and just take over" cracked one local taste maker who refused to be indentified on the record.   "It's really not a surprise, it's been all talk" added another local knowledgeable of the sad situation.
