Aspen HALL of FAME 2009

The Class of 2009 of The Aspen Hall of Fame was inducted recently at a posh banquet held at the Aspen Institute. Community stalwarts MARIAN DAVIS and MEAD METCALFwere honored by the Hall of Fame for their significant and lasting impact on the Aspen/Snowmass community: economically, physically, spiritually and intellectually.  Like all the preceding HOF inductees, Davis and Metcalf have made major contributions to Aspen's cultural landscape.  They joined previously honored Aspen legends such as Freidl Pfeifer, Walter and Elizabeth Paepcke and Klaus Obermeyer and many more--- as HALL of FAMERS.

Marian Lyeth Davis: Aspen HOF 2009Marian Davis migrated from her life as a Houston debutante and socialite more than 5 decades ago.  She was instrumental in founding Aspen's Christ Episcopal Church in the West End.  She has always been a tireless supporter (and a life trustee) of the Aspen Music Festival and School.  Marian was the first honorary trustee of Les Dames d' Aspen and she's on the National council of The Aspen Art Museum among countless other philanthropic activities in the Roaring Fork Valley.Mead & Diane Metcalf: Aspen HOF 2009

Mead Metcalf is the founder and the heart and soul of the famous CRYSTAL PALACE dinner theatre, an Aspen institution for 51 years.  Metcalf, a graduate of Dartmouth College and a WWII vet came to Aspen in the late 50's to ski and play the piano.  His love of entertaining evolved into the most successful entertainment venue in Aspen.  The popular musical review provided political commentary and satire for generations of Aspen visitors and locals, plus it provided employment for many talented ski bums.  Metcalf participated and contributed to many vital causes in Aspen, always willing to pitch in.  He now lives on a golf course in Crested Butte.HOF member Mary Eshbaugh Hayes & socialite Merrill Ford

The Next Level

Michael David Cook @ The Aspen ClubEverybody knows that AspenSpin.com has a body built for partyin'.

Lately we've been taking our fitness training to THE NEXT LEVEL with Michael David Cook @ The Aspen Club.

With Michael's revolutionary program, The Next Level, we've established our goals and now we're gettin' after it.   MDC helped customize a workout regime   that helps improve strength, flexibility, quickness, agility, stamina and overall fitness.

A-Spin's career as a professional athlete  is finally over- (PSIA certified ski pro 3 seasons, retired).  That doesn't mean we don't still want to rip it up hard on a POW day, --- all day long.  We're still trying to take it strong to the net in rec. hockey, and we like to walk the dog with no aches and pains.  HELP!!!

The Aspen Club has the best stocked gym in the world.  They have every type of weight, workout equipment, cardio machine, etc. and the professional trainers to show you how to use it all.  We asked Michael David Cook to come up with a plan stressing core strength, balance and to help build those explosive twitchy muscles that allow us to "take it to the house" ---everyday.  Whatever?  We just want to maximize our potential, physically.  Cook is highly trained--click the The Next Level to read about him.  He's even got a golf specific program for our more sedate golfing buddies.

Yeah, AspenSpin.com may be retired, but we're waaaaaay to radical for golf.  With the help of Michael David Cook and The Aspen Club, we'll be "takin' to the hole,... all night long" for a long time.

X Games/ The Ultimate Re-Cap.

Double Gold Medalist, Torah Bright. click 4 pixX Games: The images say it all.

The events were awesome, the partying was scary-good and we took more photos than we can handle.

The published photos are the siiiiiiiiiiiick ones, obviously.  Normally we'd caption them up (and spell everybody's name correctly thanks to FaceBook), but there are just so many "goooooood ones".  We've got the party pix, the music pix, the backstage pix, the big air pix---u name it.  Unfortunately we couldn't caption-ize them all.  So find yourself , look for your friends, tag all the extreme athletes and gold medal winners, the ESPN talking heads and the corporate execs.  They're all here.

We got some help this year. Special thanks to photographers: Jordan Curet, Tracy Ernst, Aaron Gabriel, Susan Manuello and Stacy Holand and to all the ESPN guys especially ZO and TZ.  We also owe a extra-special thanks to Red Bull Skiing, Oakley, Blizzard/ Tecnica, Powder Mag, Fuze, Hamilton Sports, Boarding for Breast Cancer, Women's Sports Foundation, ESPN Event Media, Vijay, O'C, G. Strokes, Ricci Savi and all the rippers.

Contained below: An executive summary of the 7 photo albums & more than 200 images. Click 'em all and let Ullr sort 'em out.
