Swag-Fest
THE MEETING is chock full of free stuff. T's, hats, water bottles--you name it it got tossed into the crowd. Every film session included a swag-fest.
-
Uniquely
Uniquely: a film from Oakley / 1242 films was a HUGE hit at THE MEETING. The cast and crew hit the Wheeler stage. The flick is a "ladies only " celebration of sports and culture. Exotic locales include deep, deep POW in Russia and deeper POW in Japan. In addition to the snow -sports UNIQUELY features some of the hottest women on earth skating, wake-boarding and surfing.
Exec. producer Liesl Holtz, intros some of the Ladies of Oakley and one lucky dude ( the Director we think?)
-
The Talent
Marie-France Roy and Grete Eliassen each did a star-turn in UNIQUELY. MFR a.k.a. MO-FO is the head of shred, and calls Whistler home. Grete Eliassen rips it @ Snowbird / Alta and is considered to be the "Kelly Taylor" of SLC, 84101.
-
The Association
Chris Jerard, publisher of Freeskier Mag. and elite skier / athlete Simon Dumont, are the driving force behind the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP). AFP is an attempt to unify competitive freeskiing and create a governing body for the sport. The major goal is to provide consistency and organization for freeskiing venues and judging. Better administration , structure and professionalism in freeskiing would be awesome, but the politics will be a b*tch---good luck fellas. Sign us up ASAP.
-
Who's got next?
Bridger Gile, 9, is one of the most radical, hardest skiing kids out there. His parents Rob and Lisa along with family friend Joel Lee sitting out side THE MEETING. Bridger was not featured in a ski- film this year, reason being: "homework---spelling and multiplication".
-
All Business
Marketing business-woman Justine Chellel from MSI and pro-skier Jen Hudack attended some of the top-level business sessions at THE MEETING in Aspen.
-
Snow Business
Steele Spence is taking his love of skiing into the business world with 4FRNT skis. Check him out: Click Steele. He's with his lady Justine Chellel and freeskiing's top dog, Simon Dumont. Dumont needs no intro--he simply goes BIGGER than anyone else--ever.
-
The Mentor
Park City dude Kerry Miller has been a mentor to the top freeskiers since the infancy of the sport. Film producer Josh Finbow, also from P.C. joined him @ THE MEETING.
-
All-Pro.
MO-FO has plenty of hardware, but she considers herself "just another hucker". Top free-skier and entrepreneur Pep Fujas goes HUGE 100% of the time, and G.E. when she's not polishing her gold medals she's taking laps on Cottonwood Canyon.
-
International Incident
Brit. photo-pro Ben Burnett and MFR, a French Canadian discuss the International politics of shredding.
-
Entreprenuerial Spirit.
Riley Poor seems to be involved in everything freeskiing. He makes films, advises athletes and rocks it big time with Nike 6.0. His "better half" Katrina B. Bobier has her own fashion empire specializing in knit wear. Click her gear @ BobKnits.com.
-
Don't Blink
WildSnow blogger Lou Dawson and his lovely wife Lisa posed up for A-Spin. Give him a read, click into WILDSNOW. Lou, an extraordinary alpinist has honed his reaction time to be so quick --that the fabulous Cannon G-7 could not capture an "eyes open" image of him. This is as close as we got to a "money shot". Lisa looks good and thats more important.
-
Kid Rippers
The Newhard clan came out in full force to The Meeting. Chapin, 11, Lacey, 9 and Natalie, 6 are ready to RIP this season.
-
Bull Shot
Red Bull / Oakley athletes, Marie-France Roy, Grete Eliassen and Angeli VanLaanen (right) at the media mixer teaming up with Freeskier Mag. Journalist Nicole Birkhold. Once THE MEETING ended this group of eye candy "stomped it" at a local sushi bar.
-
Dina and the Man
Freeheeling photog Dina Bloom and EXPN's Tim Mutrie partied with the media.
-
Future of Video
Michael Lythcott (left) is CEO of VAS Entertainment, the dominant distributor of action sports content in the world. He's with film-maker Curtis Morgan whose project THAT'S IT, THATS ALL got rave reviews at THE MEETING. Lythcott led a compelling session on the future of video. He mentioned that action-sports video content is the best way to "talk to the cool kids". ML knows his core customers (demo. aged 15-24) are on line--he better get there too. VAS' revolutionary IPOD deal is the smartest thing he talked about at THE MEETING.
-
AquaMan
Ephraim Learned from Rocky Mountain Bikes and Greg Strokes from Oakley both sported Aqua. Is this an early indicator for the color of the year? Oakley's Liesl Holtz was just relieved that her pet project UNIQUELY "killed it" at THE MEETING.
-
Big Shotz
Ephraim and Strokes pulled in some star power. THE MASSIVE, director Constantine Papanicolou and exec. producer Matty Swanson. The MASSIVE is Tanner Hall's new flick for 08/09. Check out the trailer--click THE MASSIVE
Loyal A-Spinners will recall T. Hall's THE MASSIVE Party-- last season's #1 gig. Click 4 DAY BENDER to review the siiiick pix.

Johnny Law
Lady lawyers Jennifer Mannon and Anne McCord unwittingly crashed The MEETING's press event. When it was revealed that they were "not on the list" but were both practicing Attorneys, the bouncers backed off and credentialed them.
