Aspen dominates Detroit
The Aspen Leafs hockey team dominated the Detroit Red Wings Alumni 6-3 to win their second straight Stirling Cup. The Red Wings brought in some fresh talent in an attempt to avenge last years 7-3 pasting, but the end result was the same. The stacked Aspen squad was too strong and used their 8,000 ft home-ice advantage to prevail for the second consecutive year.

The Stirling Cup All Star Weekend, named in memory of the late Stirling Cooper, celebrated its 10th Anniversary this year. The weekend benefits local programs for kids including Aspen Junior Hockey, AVSC and Aspen United Soccer Club. Activities included a VIP Party, Golf and of course the highly competitive hockey game. The Aspen Recreation Center (ARC) was filled to capacity to watch The Detroit Red Wings Alumni Team take on the Aspen Leafs.
The Leafs came out on top again, but everybody (including the Wings) had a great weekend. A substantial amount of money was raised to benefit Aspen's youth programs all in honor of the late Stirling Cooper. Shhhhhh, don't tell, but AspenSpin is a Detroit fan. We've twittered with a couple of the more recently retired Red Wings and we're hoping to get Stevie Yzerman, Bob Probert and Chris Chelios (if he ever retires) to skate in Aspen next year.
