Bald is Beautiful / Shining Stars

The Shining Stars held their annual Aspen Winter Games at Buttermilk Mountain. The Stars, 51 kids from 13 States, all who battle Cancer and other life threatening diseases got to kick it---Aspen Style.  In addition to their daily skiing and boarding (on the same hill that hosts ESPN's X-Games), the Stars got to party like rock stars all over Aspen.  We got into it @ Shining Stars HQ, The Inn @ Aspen, the Disco Inferno @ The Elks Club and the Awards Banquet @ St. Regis.

Watching these tough, talented athletes embrace mountain sports (some of them for the first time) was amazing.  Some of the kids were very shy at first, but they gained confidence, camaraderie and great life experiences while in Aspen.  It was a "week of good news" for kids whose typical agenda includes battling terrible diseases.

Shane McConkey R.I.P.

Freeskiing pioneer Shane McConkey 39, died today in Italy while B.A.S.E. jumping.  He is survived by his wife and 3 1/2 year old daughter.  The entire Ski Industry is saddened by his untimely passing.  See his bio, click SHANE or ESPN.

A-Rod vs. A-Spin

Baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez has been spending time in Aspen this Spring.

A-Rod's rehabbing his surgically repaired hip at The Aspen Club & enjoying Aspen's Rocky Mountain hospitality.  Previously A-Rod politely declined our request for a photo.  Some of his peeps must have pinged him into the POWER and street cred of AspenSpin.com, because he sought us out @ The Little Nell.  A-Rod requested a "pose down".  The results are shown below.
