Mo-Town

Its opening day and Thanksgiving, so no time for verbiage.

It was boogie oogie oogie at the MOVEMBER DISCO GALA hosted by the Aspen Given Foundation.  Movember is the international program designed to raise money and increase awareness for prostate and testicular cancer. Guys from all over the world grew out their moustaches and collected pledges to support the Movember movement.  Mo was a huge hit in Aspen; The 2nd annual Aspen Disco Gala fueled by the bangin' disco beats of Grooveline and plenty of liquid courage went off --BIG TIME.

Re:      Ski Season, 2008/09 Go BIG or Go Home

Thanksgiving marks the opening of Aspen's 2008/09 Ski Season. It also begins the third year for AspenSpin.com. By any measure, last Winter was EPIC,  it was the "best ever" in Aspen's recorded history. So we've got a lot to live up to this season, that's why A-Spin has chosen the mantra ---Go BIG...or go home, for the 2008/09 ski season.

See our latest pix @ On Your Mark... Get Set...

It's been a crazy ride for AspenSpin. We have reached the pinnacle of success, to become Aspen's #1 social media outlet. Despite very difficult economic times we recently received a huge capital injection from an off-shore fund. Before that,  we considered axing Andy-Party, our d-bag photographer. He filed suit so we're forced to keep him on board. He'll still be sneaking into your parities again this season,  to capture those unique, one-of-a-kind photos.  In reality, A.P. was honored to be included on the list of world's 10 best "point & shoot" photographers as named by "A" Magazine, a Chinese photo rag, not bad for a ski-bum.  Also, he works for free, so, for now we'll keep him around.

We have a lot to be thankful for at AspenSpin.com.  We'd especially like to thank YOU--- our viewers for continuing to click in.  We surpassed  both the million vert mark and the million click mark in the past 12 months, so we're gonna "get after it"  again this season. We're planning to rip all day and party all night---now that's a stable business model.

Photos are our business---so click the new ones @ On your Mark... Get Set...

Powder Day Preview

Its the proverbial calm before the storm in Aspen. It's quiet, but not for long. Opening day is 11/27/08, Thanksgiving. We've been told by unnamed sources (Ski Co.) that its 100% on. So fire up the G-5 and get here for day one.

We've been publishing AspenSpin.com for more than 2 years, and thanks to the web our reach is worldwide. We've been in touch with the Swiss skiwear trend setters at KJUS. They wanted AspenSpin.com to get hip to their super-technical line of ski clothing for 2008/09. We're trying to be more stylie this season so we jumped on the KJUS bandwagon. Bode Miller wears it, Casey Puckett wears it and now the entire staff at AspenSpin.com will be sporting uncompromising skiwear from KJUS.  In Aspen, KJUS is on the loose at Hamilton Sports and Gorsuch. Its not only fashionable, its highly functional too. No, we didn't win the loto, and we're not trust-a-farians----- we just decided to step up and outfit our people in the finest ski garb known to man. We recently rolled in to see Bill Miller @ Hamilton Sports, and we spotted a local celeb prepping for the season by walking the red carpet in this KJUS CIO down parka. Its puffy, its toasty and its haute. Click Hamilton, Gorsuch or Kjus to see what's up.

Also on the international front one of our blokes from London sent us these photos from the first ever London Freeze, the largest pre-season skiing event in the entire British Empire. The gnarly kicker shown below was constructed specifically for the London Freeze and then packed with man-made snow so all the Euro-rippers could get off. Photos: Hitting Kickers.

Aspen Rookie Orientation

Are you ready to ride? Two weeks from today---its GO TIME--- the lifts open.  There's already snow on the ground and its sticking.  We're got a ton of newbies in town for the season so we created a 3-step orientation program for the rookies.  Its a cliff notes version of the popular Aspen Survival Guide.

1)  GET A JOB(or a 2nd and 3rd job).  Makin' ends meat in A-Town is not easy.

Maybe you've already got something lined up.  Think again dude-bro. You're gonna need another source of income.  Find that perfect fit at ACRA's Job Fair---This Friday, 11/14/08 @ The Hotel Jerome, 10 to 3.  See what's out there.

Click ACRA for all the details.                      Aspen Club Ski Conditioning click to enlarge

2)  SKI CONDITIONING.  This is serious.  It's already too late to start, but do it anyway.  Cardio, core work, squats, do those ski specific excercises ASAP.  You can do it on your own, or at one of the several venues throughout the Valley. Hire a trainer---whatever?, just do it.  We like to do our ski conditioning at THE ASPEN CLUB.  Why?  Isn't it obvious?  THE ASPEN CLUB has the hottest chicks.

3) TAKE CARE of the JOINTS.  If you plan to get a million verts (or anything close) this season you must take care o' da knees.  Bad knee = bad season.  We've got a good pre-game plan.  Gobs of FLEX-POWER.  This stuff is the shiz-nit.  Just a couple o' squirts in the morning and our knees buzz all day.  We've tried Asian balms, vioxx (shhhhh), ibuprofen, even 'roids and a few other illegal street drugs.  FLEX-POWER is the best for both warm-up and recovery.  It heats up your knees, like nothing else.  It doesn't smell and Flex-Power actually attracts cougars. Try it / buy it--click FLEX-POWER.

Snow-Time

It's Snow-Time in Aspen.  The Carmelo-meter (pictured below) called it 6" to 8" in town, with more up top. SchWiiiiing.
