See Jane, See Jane... RIP!!!

Jane Somerville Dennis is small in stature, but that doesn't stop her from hucking the sickest cliffs----and 1637062-1192798-thumbnail.jpgshe looks good doing it.    Jane, an Aspen local and Michigan native is a professional big mountain skier and model and although she's only 5'1" she is a two time Colorado Freeride Champion and a top finisher on the International Freeskiing Circuit (IFSA).  In other words-----you can't keep up with her!!!   Jane's sponsors include Stihl, Volkl, Smith, Hestra, Technica and The North Face.  www.AspenSpin.com is hoping for a brand new chain saw in exchange for our coverage.

Jane and her Husband Adam Dennis, a professional photographer, recently inked a pact to be part of Aspen Spin's  Extreme Team.  Jane rips the bad-a$$ lines, and Adam shoots the pix.  You can see more of their work at www.Adamseye.com

Jane and Adam, shown above, right @ après ski.   Don't worry, Jane's facial injuries were not sustained on the slopes---"it's the after party that gets me" she explained.   "No charges were filed" added A.D.

Berloni storms the USA.

Many spinners have been asking ---  What is Berloni America ?   A quick click on their banner will tell you the story, But A-Spin digs deeper.

Entrepreneur, Robert "Boom Boom" Nusbaum has teamed up with the famous Berloni Family of Pesaro, Italy 1637062-1190328-thumbnail.jpgto bring the world-class Berloni brand to America.  Founded in the 60's by craftsmen Antonio and Macello Berloni it's grown into a humongous International conglomerate producing a wide variety of home furnishings.   The company has 16 production facilities  around the world and is focused on three main business units----- Home, Office and Refrigeration.

1637062-1190388-thumbnail.jpg"Boom Boom" gave up a promising career as a "session drummer" and composer to go into his family's biz.  If you live in America and you have carpeting in your house---"Boom-Boom's" team probably had something to do with it.  New York Carpet World was eventually swallowed up by a corporate predator and is no longer owned by the family. However,  the legend lives on with the 4th generation of Nusbaum merchants.

Now, Rob is teaming up with the craftsmen at Berloni to bring their Italian sense of style and quality to America.  They're doing huge interior projects in Basalt and Denver, they're big in Detroit, Chicago and their dealer network is growing rapidly across the country.  A-Spin  shout's out to  homie and former MERC  trader, Mike "two scoops" Schatz in Chi-town for makin' it happen.   Check out the site at www.BerloniAmerica.com

Yeah...dude!

Yeah... dude!!!!   The crowd at the Gondola yelped ecstatically as the ropes dropped and the buckets started to load up.  Sure, it was wet, but it was deep.  Yeah...dude!!   What started as an epic rain storm turned into the best powder day in Aspen since last February.  The A-Spin-O-meter said 12 to 15 inches.   Sweeeeeeeeet.  The huge line at the lift could have been labeled---"local's only", because the tourists were either ----not here ---or----still in bed.  Highlights included---ducking the ropes on Back of Bell for "waste deep" schralping.

Getting up early was quite a chore, especially after the town "went off" at the Deborah Harry show on Friday 1637062-1187123-thumbnail.jpgnight.  The iconic former lead singer for Blondie is touring to support her new CD, Necessary Evil.  She might be north of 60, but she still works it, and it was a great show.  Also, the crowd was a spicy combination of Hot Chix mixed with some Hotter ones.

But seriously, if you're a "hard core" athlete---and you know you are.  You should have been here tonight for the 2nd annual SUMMIT FOR LIFE.  It's a 2-1/2 mile uphill hike to the top of AJAX,---- at night, -----in the snow.  Over 200 racers wore, snow-shoes, ski's or crampons for the 3200 vertical foot uphill.  Olympic medalist, and Aspen local CHRIS KLUG is a transplant recipient---it saved his life.  Check out the Chris Klug foundation and www.summitforlife.org to see how organ and tissue donation can save lives.

More shreading tomorrow.

The Last Ridge

Any history buff's out there readin A-Spin?   Check out www.LastRidge.com   1637062-1183857-thumbnail.jpg
Histrorian Flint Whitlock and 10th Mtn Aspen local Gino Hollander answer questions from the SRO crowd.

The Last Ridge,  is a new documentary from Producer/ Director, Abbie Kealy.   It profiles the famous 10th Mountain Division, who trained near Aspen and helped achieve victory in WWII--- in the Italian Alps.  Every major ski area in the U.S. has a 10th Mountain man in it's roots.  Check it out------it's very interesting---for $20 you can be a playa and watch it in your own screening room.
