Secrets of Aspen

Laura plays the Queen Bi-atch in Secrets of Aspen. click 4 pix.Everybody in Aspen keeps asking us about the VH1 docu-soap, SECRETS of ASPEN.   We'll reserve judgement until we see it, but ....we're afraid....very afraid.  

Everyone has their own relationship with Aspen, their own"Aspen Idea". MIND, BODY, SPIRIT.  Aspen is a beautiful, magical place, a ski town with roots in mining.  Secrets of Aspen will show that 'gold-digging'  is a full-contact sport in Aspen --and compares it to the world's oldest profession.  Secrets of Aspen is clearly not a true depiction of Aspen, it will show a small, vapid and superficial facet of our "life-style".  Based on the 4 minute trailer we viewed on Facebook, we're concerned that the "actors" and Aspen will ultimately be embarrassed.  It looks dirty, like you need a shower, dirty.

FULL DISCLOSURE: We attended a few of the the VH1 events. Two house parties last January---(click REALITY BITES for a re-cap) and we "sneaked" into Brooke's 25th Birthday bash where a cake fight "spontaneously" broke out and hilarity ensued. We also crashed The SEXY SINGLES AUCTION (stay classy, The Little Nell and The Buddy Program).  A-Spin did not sign a waiver or release form, nor did we eat or drink anything at these scripted events for fear of the "roofie effect".  Its true, we have a face "made for blogging" so we avoided the cameras and the big time, beanie wearing, walkie talkie carryin' folks from High Noon and VH1 who produced secrets of Aspen.

Our Miss Brooke

Happy Birthday to Brooke Lauren who turned 25 in Aspen last night.  The future VH1 reality TV star and first ever Miss Aspen Spin marked her first quarter century with an intimate soiree at Aspen Meadows.  Brooke was honored by a glittering crowd of her smoking hot friends.

Brooke is one of the sexy stars of a "docu-soap" reality TV show currently being filmed in Aspen by VH1 and High Noon Productions .  The untitled Aspen project is slated to air in January and has been likened to MTV's, The Hills ----- @ 8,000 ft.

Brookie Baybee & all her girlz were dressed to kill and fully mic'd for the fest.  AspenSpin donned a suit for the first time in 5 years (is that reality?) to cover the event.   The "on-camera" birthday bash included several "fly-in dates" and many TV stars from other shows.  A tradition with Brooke---a giant cake-fight -- highlighted the evening---hi-jinx ensued.  Obviously we've got a big back log of reality pix.  Look for more pix and commentary closer to air date in January.

da Girlz. Click 4 pix.Wow, the bullsh*t being slung on the gondy this week is thick and juicy.  In case you forgot ---President's Week in Aspen is perhaps the most affluent week of the season.  It's a more upscale crowd than the posers who show up for New Years?  The narcissism is palpable.

Whateva?

We find it hilarious that everyone on the Gondola is "from here", even though they're obviously not.  Face it people,--- if your house, job, family, school, dog & car aren't in Aspen---then you don't "really" live here.   Everybody's wants to be a local, especially this week.  Just to clarify, fractional ownership does not constitute "having a place" in Aspen.  SCOREBOARD!! If you're here 2 weeks a year or less, you don't live here.

Click 4 PixThe people from L.A. throw out the most smack----is everybody a MAJOR playa in LALA land?   The Noooo Yawkers complain about the economy as they shop, dine and spend like drunken sailors.  You gotta love the cougars who have five ski outfits, but never ski a run. They ride the gondy up for lunch, ride it down for their spa treatments. Its all good clean fun. T.I.A. This is Aspen.

The Cougar Show

Reality TV has hit Aspen. Yup, its true,a VH1 / MTV production team is in town filming a pilot, tentatively called "Tough Love". We've heard it called, The Cougar Show. Several local ladies were chosen by VH1 to get "mic-ed up" and "followed" around Aspen. Each of the women are nice, attractive, social, sexy and stylish. Whether their lives make for compelling TV, that is yet to be determined.

For the record, WE LOVE ALL the GIRLZ, ---individually, together and as often as possible. We just hope the camera-men and the beanie wearing, walkie-talkie-wielding producers (led by Brett Weinstock) don't turn their lives into a sh*t show. BE CAREFUL GIRLZ; REALITY BITES.

We attended a few of the groovy parties that were "staged" for the show. We'll come right out and say it, LOUD and CLEAR: We prefer to party FREE-STYLE.But everybody wants to be on TV, right?. So we slicked it back, put on a blazer (?) and showed up to the alcohol (?) fueled "reality" parties. It was fun to observe the production, and see how the "stars" reacted to the red light, but it was far from reality. With equal parts fascination and nausea we watched and snapped a few.

Reality Bites: Click 4 PixWe've also heard rumours about BRAVO casting a reality show of a similar genre in Aspen."More of a character study" said one insider, right?. Also talk of a Cougar movie, zzzzzz. It'll be interesting to see if either of the shows ever see the light of day.
