Food Orgy: Aspen

Table for 50--- no problemo.  We attended one of the rowdier dinner parties in Aspen history last night @ Crystal Palace Grille.  No injuries were reported. Crystal Palace is "obviously the place to go" in Aspen especially if you have a large contingent.  Several double digit groups converged in a food orgy at CPG. Parties from Las Vegas, Toronto, Hollywood, Detroit, Miami and Boulder meshed together in a multi-generational fiesta.  The food consumption ratio was off the charts.

Mariah Carey in Aspen

Whatever?  Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were spotted shopping in Aspen.  We ask the question, WTF are they doing here?  Do they even ski or board? Doubtful. Do they bring their own paparazzi with them? Again we ask WTF?  Apparently Mariah likes to show off her mammaries in sub-zero temps.,because these photos are strikingly similar to last years cheesy-cake shots.  Nick, he's in charge of the dawg.  What up dawg? 

On a brighter note AspenSpin's staffer Andy-Party was the first person to drop in Trainors for the 08/09 season.  The rope fell and A-Party was on the spot to score the first legit tracks of the year in the extreme zone known at Trainors.  Only one word describes the deep snow, un-marked obstacles,mine shafts etc.---Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.

The "new" Best Day Ever in Aspen

Photo Matt Power. 12/7/07 the "former" best day ever.Twas two days before Christmas, and all through the Valley

anticipation was high, Winter weather did rally.

big,soft, fluffy snowflakes began dropping like the Dow,

it got so deep, even Santa needed a plow.

it dumped and dumped and dumped all night, into the morn,

The line at the bucket started to amass, the tourists were forlorn.

26 inches of fresh POWDER and it was all "nipple deep"

unlimited "face shots" for those who found the steeps.

lap after lap after lap, locals on fatties were ripping,

the Nooo Yawkers ate lunch, fondue they were dipping.

POW kept a fallin', would it stop, hopefully never.

the standard was set in Aspen,  The "new"  BEST DAY EVER.

Editor's note:   We surveyed countless Aspen veterans in our quest to determine if 12.23.08 was actually the best day ever on Ajax. We compared 12.23.08 to several huge epic POW days from the past, including 12.07.07 (pictured above) and others from last year's-- BEST SEASON EVER.  We considered snow quality, depth, terrain available and the omnipresent stench of weed in each and every gondola car to reach our conclusion. YES!!!! its official, 12.23.08 is the "new" best day ever, and it was siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.  Agree or disagree?  You can post a comment below.

Dump-a-Thon

It looks like Tuesday is the day Aspen. For the third straight Tuesday,Aspen is getting hit with a major powder storm. At press time its still dumping----hard---- so its difficult to call it----but we're estimating 12" to 18" ---maybe more. Pull out your snorkel & your "floaters",break out the fattest skis in your quiver and get after it.
